Traditional Lunch/Dinner "Supra" with toastmaster and live polyphonic music
Georgia Supra is at the heart of Georgian Culture, so if you have not experienced it, you might not have seen Georgia in full. Elders say: there were three main academy's in Georgia since the 12th century: Gelati Academy (Kutaisi), Ikalto Academy, and the Academy of Supra. Indeed this is a place where youth learns about all the important values alongside with food and wine. Supra translates as fest and it denotes an art of celebration. Celebration of a wedding, a birthday, a birth, or even a celebration for no particular reason.
Supra has rules:
Head of Supra is appointed – Tamada;
He offers themes on which everyone is invited to make a toast (no pressure).
There is a number of obligatory toasts and even their consequence is defined;
Toasts should be as creative as possible, more like novels and poems;
White wine is usually drunk at the traditional Supra. Rarely Vodka and never beer! Singing is part of Georgian Supra, and you will have a chance to hear the finest trio from Guria.
