Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico
As if 6 miles of white sand beaches aren’t enough, Tulum also has clifftop Mayan ruins, magical cenotes, colorful birds, and some of the world’s best street food. Situated on the Caribbean coastline of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, Tulum was a walled Mayan city and major port from the 13th to 15th centuries. You can still walk among the three remaining structures: El Castillo, Temple of the Frescoes and the Temple of the descending God. Outside of its impressive archeological site, Tulum boasts natural beauty everywhere you look. Be sure to swim in a cenote (Gran Cenote is the most popular), try a paleta (a popsicle, but better), and spend lots and lots of time on the beach!
