Story: Plaza de Armas is the historic heart of Arequipa. No wonder it is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as it is an atmospheric square where you see many locals coming together. Around the square you will find several places of interest, including the cathedral: the Basilica Cathedral of Arequipa.

Story: This beautiful valley is the second deepest valley in the world and the perfect place to spot condors. These are large, vulture-like birds of prey with a wingspan up to three (!) meters. From Arequipa you can book an one-day trip to the Colca Canyon. In one day you can visit a lot of highlights and be impressed by the beauty of Mother Nature.

Story: When we think about Peru the first thing that comes to mind are the extremely fluffy alpaca’s. So once we knew there was a small alpaca museum in Arequipa we definitely had to take a look. Story: One of the main highlights of Arequipa is the Santa Catalina Monastery. Behind the thick walls hides an entire city that has been inhabited for centuries by hundreds of nuns. The monastery was built in 1579 and extends over 20.000 square meters. Nowadays it still is an important place for a small religious community. The site is built of volcanic pillar rock like most buildings in Arequipa. Wander through the narrow streets, courtyards and admire all details of great architecture in this beautiful and peaceful place.
