A quick 3-day trip-
In typical Ted and Kait fashion, we wanted to go somewhere
1. We hadn’t been before
2. Relatively cheap
3. Southwest flys
Before the trip, I didn’t do too much research on what we were going to do. But I found out the museums are free in the city so I bought some plane tickets!
Anheuser-Busch St. Louis Brewery
SUCH a fun and informative tour! Ted and I did the “beermaster tour”. We got to sample the beer fresh out of the barrel. You get a hat, a keepsake glass, and a free pint at the end. Ted and I weren’t big Budweiser fans pre-tour, but they sure did sway us. Worth checking out whether you’re a beer lover or not!
See MoreSt. Louis Cardinals
We were able to catch a cards game while in STL. Such a pretty stadium and it has views of downtown and the gateway arch! If you’re looking to save money you can snag a nosebleed seat and probably manage to walk around for better views. Or watch from one of the many bars right next to the stadium in their “cardinals nation” block. The whole area surrounding the stadium was built like a mini city, very immersive for any cardinal fan!
See MoreCity Museum
IF YOU’RE VISITING WITH KIDS, this is the place! Ted and I went thinking it was free, it’s not, but once you’re inside, it’s hard to leave! Basically a giant playground spanning an entire skyscraper building. Ted and I had fun exploring, but it would be super fun if we had kiddos. Teens and kids at heart will enjoy.
See MoreThe Gateway Arch
Obviously you can’t go to STL without stopping here! Free to walk around outside for the perfect photos. There’s a mini museum inside (underground) also free! If you’re brave (I wasn’t) you can ride an elevator car to the top of the arch for the best city views, this does cost money however.
See MoreSt. Louis Union Station
An old transportation hub transformed into a functional, fun space. Shopping, dining, and even the city’s aquarium can be found here! We didn’t visit the aquarium, but I hear it’s stunning as well. The union station is mostly covered, making it a great spot for those sunny summer days.
See MoreSaint Louis Zoo
The zoo is free!! Let me start with that. And this is hands down the best zoo I’ve been to! It’s large so bring those walking shoes. The bang for your buck is unmatched here. Our favorite part was the penguin and puffin enclosure where you are literally walking among the penguins and puffins. No glass separating you. Very fun!
See MoreForest Park
The zoo, art, and history museums are located in this park (all free might I mention again). If you go and the weather is nice, the trails around this park are expansive, would be fun to rent an e-bike or walk your dog! We visited the boathouse at forest park and rented a kayak for an hour. It wouldn’t be a Ted and Kait trip without sampling (more) local beer; we got a cooler of 6 cans that they let you take out on the water to enjoy.
The history museum was interesting. We didn’t get to make it to the art museum.
See MoreThe Schlafly Tap Room
We walked here after our kid-filled adventure at the city museum. We enjoyed a juicy burger and the largest beer flight we’ve ever encountered! 16 beers!
See MoreMama's On The Hill
Family-owned authentic Italian food in the old Italian neighborhood of The Hill. You must try the toasted ravioli! All the Uber drivers we met were raving about toasted ravioli and it did not disappoint.
See MoreCity Foundry STL
Must visit if you’re into local shops and eats. So many options! We went here to kill time before our flight out, suitcases and all! We each got to pick what we wanted for lunch from 15+ food truck options. After we got a wine flight at the local winery. Also an Alamo draft house on site do you need a fun date night option!
See MoreSalt + Smoke
Super yum BBQ. Being native Texans, we had to try the hype around BBQ from this region. This was where we went right after landing, while waiting for our airbnb to be ready. Loved the sides we got and the sauces for the meats were A+!
See MoreShaw's Coffee Ltd.
We went here more than once on our trip because it was in the hill area where we were staying. Very good, authentic coffee spot that used to be a bank! You can even enjoy your morning cup of joe in the bank vault!
