The NC mountains are one of our favorite places on the planet. I have listed many places to stay (splurge and budget-friendly) and fun activities!
The Mast Farm Inn
This is my favorite place in the area. This is a beautiful and picturesque mountain B&B! All the rooms are amazing and they just opened a brew/wine area across the street in their barn.

BookWestglow Luxury Resort & Spa
I celebrated a birthday at Westglow Resort and it exceeded my expectations. I loved every minute. Their spa is smaller, but just as good. Their main spa area has iconic views of rolling mountains.
I believe new owners took over, but it seems to be the same. Obviously, everyone loves a fall mountain trip, but mountains in the spring and summer are just as beautiful.

BookThe Inn at Ragged Gardens
This place is located just off the main strip down a side street. This is a small B&B with a great walkable location to all the happenings of Blowing Rock. Ragged Gardens also has a great restaurant on the property. I believe they still do wine/bites happy hour!
See MoreChetola Resort
This is a very well-known resort in the area. Its long-standing history exceeds expectations with views, service, amenities, and spa. There are dining options on the property if you want to spend the entire trip hanging around the resort/nearby. This is a splurge option and you most definitely won't regret it!

BookAzalea Garden Inn
Another small B&B that is a beautiful option. I wanted to list multiple options in the area because these quaint, smaller spots fill up quickly. Opt for a cute Inn over a hotel in the area to keep these places alive! #supportlocal

BookJulian Price Memorial Park
One of my favorite places for a picnic! This is a very family-friendly spot, but huge. Grab a blanket and some goodies from Blowing Rock Market (more on that below) and head to Julian Price. There are also trails around this area to explore. The cell service is non-existent in this area so plan ahead.
See MoreThe Speckled Trout Restaurant and Bottle Shop
This is one of the most popular spots in the area for a good reason. The food is incredible. I love the outside views when it gets chilly because they have fires and views of Main Street.
See MoreOriginal Mast General Store
AHH! This is a must-stop for anyone visiting the area. This place has so much history. I have been going to the Mast General Store since I was a kid. My parents used to bring me here and let me fill a bucket with their iconic candy barrels.
There are tons of mountain clothes, boots, and more! In the summer, they have an ice cream shop open along the creek. There are TWO stores. One is the original with an operating post office (so cool) and the other is the annex where they house more clothes and more! They are less than a mile apart - go to both.
See MoreMast General Store Boone
While this isn't the original, this store in Boone (located 15ish minutes away from Blowing Rock) is worth a visit. I like the inventory here and it's a bigger store. There are tons of spots nearby too (I will make a Boone guide soon)!
See MoreDan'l Boone Inn
I just ate here for the first time recently and WOW! This place is touristy but worth it. It is rich in history and damn delicious. It is a cash-only establishment. They offer dinner and breakfast. It is a family-style meal with a set menu. You can view the menu online. The food is a beautiful ode to Southern fare!
See MoreBlue Deer on Main
This place is downright addicting! It's convenient location is right on Main Street and offers coffee, ice cream, cookies, and the iconic ice cream cookies! So refreshing and they bring in seasonal favorites. All the places I am listing are locally owned and I cannot emphasize supporting small enough!
See MoreCome Back Shack
Honestly, just trust me on this one. This place is ALWAYS packed even during off-eating times. They serve burgers, fries, and diner type of fare. This a great causal spot for grabbing food on your way in or out of town.
See MoreBald Guy Brew Coffee Roasting Co
Another coffee spot to add to your list!
See MoreBlowing Rock Market
Cute market in the center of Blowing Rock. They offer made-to-order sandwiches, snacks, refrigerator items, and local goodies! Our favorite elderberry gummy is sold here so definitely try them if you go. A great place to get picnic items.
See MoreStorie Street Grille & Sidecar Bar
A cute dinner place right on Main Street.
See MoreMy Mountain Home
One of our favorite home decor shops in Blowing Rock. While it's not located on Main Street, they have ample parking and amazing products. Most are locally sourced supporting other business owners in the area. I got some of my favorite pottery bowls from here!
See MoreThe Bee & The Boxwood
This shop is BEAUITFUL and curated with the girly girl in mind. I could live in this store and spend hours in here.
See MoreTake Heart
One of my favorite boutiques in all of North Carolina. The selection is very curated and everything feels like it fits (the ex-boutique owner in me is screaming). The owners are so genuine. This is a great place for Christmas gifts.
See MoreRough Ridge
A very popular trail with amazing 360 views. There are a lot of stairs but have tiered views so you can decide how far up you want to go. The parking lot is small and fills up fast.
See MoreBoone Fork Trail
Beautiful trail with water features. There are a few boulders in the trail you must get over! Wear waterproof shoes!
See MoreBlue Ridge Parkway
This will forever be one of the most beautiful drives of my life and it will never get old. There are many ways you can get on the parkway and drive for any desired time. It will get crowded on the weekends in peak seasons. Beware!
See MoreCrab Orchard Falls
Long steep climb, but the waterfalls are worth it!
