Vista Bahn Ski Rentals
Every good ski day at Vail starts at Vista Bahn. Walking a mile from the car to the lift in my ski boots is something we all can agree sucks and for $8 a day a Vista Bahn, you don’t have to. You can carry all your gear to their shop in your COMFY shoes and then get dressed there right next to the lift. Trust me, this is worth it ESPECIALLY if you plan on hanging around the village after your ski day is done for some aprés.
See MoreLos Amigos
Los Amigos is a GREAT spot to stop in in the morning on your way to the lift in Vail Village. They have ready-to-go breakfast burritos and pretty solid to-go bloody Mary’s to go with it. Don’t kid yourself, any Bloody Mary you can get in less than 3 minutes that is 100 feet from the first chair is gonna be a good one.
See MoreVail Ski Resort
Vail is hands down my favorite mountain. Only catch is, on weekends the crowds can downright ruin it. If you’re heading to the Rockies for an extended stay, make sure Vail is at the top of your list for any weekday skiing. The terrain is massive and whether or not the mountains seem fresh snow, there will be good skiing to be found.
If you’re a seasoned skier and love skiing some steeper and more exposed terrain, I highly recommend making a trek to Blue Sky Bowl once it opens for the day. The terrain is INSANE and the views from the top are bar none. One of our groups favorite moves is to throw some hotdogs and buns in our backpacks (with a few beers) and ski out to Blue Sky Basin. At the top they have 4 free use grills at the “Belle’s Camp” Lodge. It is a perfect lunch on a sunny blue day.
See MoreRed Lion
Once you’re done for the day and have stopped back at Vista Bahn to drop your boots and skis, your next stop should be the Red Lion. The Red Lion has a great atmosphere, lots of beers on tap and LIVE MUSIC! It’s a great way to finish the day with a couple of drinks and appetizers before heading back to the house. Hands down my favorite bar in Vail Village!
See MoreBridge Street Bar
If you like to get out and about, Bridge Street Bar is as close as you’ll get to a city bar/mellow nightclub scene. They have two separate areas, both with bars - one that is frequented by live folk musicians and the other with dance music and a big dance floor. There’s fun for all!
See MoreShakedown Bar
Shakedown is my favorite place to end the night! You enter down some stairs into a basement below the village that is open and in the back has a stage. They have great live music as well and on the weekends the owner himself often plays with his band! For any Grateful Dead fans, this is a must stop for you.
