come to this beach for cliff jumping! if you dine at black rock grille you can get your parking validated & pay less.

take a boat excursion for snorkeling around this bird-sanctuary and crater. the coral almost looks NEON! i spotted loads of parrot fish and even a day octopus. PacWhales is a great provider!

Kaihalulu Beach
stop at this red sand beach to enjoy lunch during the road to hana! the clay cliffs are beautiful and huli huli chicken is right here too... mroe on that below.

Launiupoko Beach Park
on the southwest side, the waves here are more relaxed and great for beginner surfing!

Oneloa Beach
a quieter beach with parking across the street that is great for surfing (depending on conditions overall) and lounging.

Kapalua Bay Beach
a great spot to relax in the sand reading a book or rent snorkeling gear and head out to see the shallow reefs here. i saw turtles, angelfish, parrot fish, eels, and more! the marine life is teeming here!!

ʻĪao Valley State Monument
there are a few short trails in this state monument area that celebrates the needle, a sacred site believed to be a physical representation of the hawaiian god kanaloa, who was associated with the ocean and the underworld. don't miss the short hike to quarter mile falls, where many people lounge by the river and swim.

wind through 700 curves to get to hana from paia! dizzying, but totally worth it! you'll pass by waterfalls, swim in a few, jungle and coastline, as well as the famous black sand beaches.

Pua'a Ka'a State Wayside
a great stop along the road to hana for a swim in the falls! make sure that the water is clear before you dive in... after rain it is not always suitable for swimming.

Nakalele Blowhole
not my favorite stop, but a little "blowhole" along the north end of the island. the drive up is beautiful, but it is busy.

Waihee Ridge Trail
gain 1000+ ft. of elevation on this trail up the northside mountains. you'll get amazing views of the rugged mountains and sparkling coastline.

Hoapili Trail - Trailhead
a short, 3.5-4 mile trail that winds along the coast.

Pipiwai Trail
on the backside of the road to hana (which can be super intense), wander through towering bamboo trees on this relatively easy trail.

Dragon's Teeth Access Trail
an easy trail on the west side that leads you past a labirynth out to the rock formations of "dragons teeth." there is parking (limited) at the top.

Kapalua Coastal Trail
an easy 1.5ish mile trail that passes by resorts and public beaches. great for morning or evening walks and runs!
