Our Campground

Colonial Creek South Campground
We stayed at Colonial Creek South Campground. It rests along the shore line of Diablo Lake. Some of the campgrounds line the shore while other are nestled in the trees. You can book a spot online or show up to see what spots are open. You can camp in an open spot but make sure to look for the little sign assigned to the campsite, it will either have a date on it or not. If it has a date you just need to make sure you vacate the campsite before the next campers arrival.

Gorge Overlook Trail
This trail is just a short little loop with a beautiful view of the falls

Diablo Lake Trail
Diablo Lake Trail is an out and back trail that starts you down by the lake shore and takes you up the mountains to a bridge that rests over the Skagit River. This hike is rated moderate and is a total of 7.2 mi/11.6 km.

Diablo Lake Vista Point
The Vista Point is along highway 20 it's a must stop place to take in the full size and beauty of Diablo Lake.

Ross Dam Trailhead
Ross Dam Trail is a quick hike as it is 1.4 mi/2.25km long and is an out and back trail.

Ross Lake Overlook
Also along highway 20 is the Ross Lake Overlook. Make sure to stop as it provides a beautiful view of the "front" half Ross Lake and the Moutains that surround the lake.

Washington Pass Observation Site
This was well worth the stop and Washington Pass Observation Site is the spot that reminds you just how small you are. When you pull into the parking lot you look a what feels like, a straight up view of Hinkhouse Peak.

An easy walk form the Washington Pass Observation Site parking lot is the Washington Pass Vista Point. From here you can look across highway 20 at the Early Winter Spires and down into the valley highway 20 drops down into. It is well worth the extra time to see
