Shenandoah Skyline Dr. Parkway Southern Terminus
This ultra scenic road is the “Gateway to the Blue Ridge Parkway”. I highly recommend beginning your epic road-trip with it!

Dark Hollow Falls Trailhead
If you have time, I also recommend hiking to Dark Hollow Falls (right off Skyline Drive) en route to Blue Ridge Parkway.

Natural Bridge State Park
Milepost 61.6: Just off the Blue Ridge Parkway lies this gorgeous Virginia gem that boasts a 215 ft tall Natural Bridge in a limestone gorge carved out by Cedar Creek!

We camped here after our first full day of road-tripping the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s directly on route with private and serene campsites tucked back in the forest.

Mabry Mill
Milepost 176: The most photographed site on route! It’s definitely worth the stop to walk around this picturesque and historic place!

Blowing Rock
An immense cliff 4,000 feet above sea level with sprawling views of the mountains! The town, itself, is worth checking out as well!

Boone KOA Holiday
Since there’s SO much to explore in this area of the Blue Ridge Parkway (around Boone, NC), I highly recommend at least one or two nights here so you can see it all! To follow this exact itinerary, you’ll need two nights (but you can adjust accordingly).

Rough Ridge
Milepost 302.8: My personal favorite place to watch sunrise along the entire route! Could not recommend hiking to Rough Ridge to witness its beauty more!

Linville Falls
Milepost 316.4: Linville Falls. This waterfall (both the upper and lower falls) is STUNNING! I believe no Blue Ridge Parkway road-trip is complete without making this stop!

Hawksbill Mountain
Another amazing hike in Linville Gorge Wilderness with panoramic views! Can easily hike here and Linville Falls in one day!

Upper Creek Falls
Less than 10 miles from Linville Falls lies this underrated, hidden gem! This hike surprised me in all the best ways and I couldn’t recommend adding it onto your Blue Ridge Parkway adventures more!

Grandfather Trail
Right near Linville is the most thrilling, crazy-awesome hike you’ll find on route (perhaps in the entire eastern US)! Grandfather Trail is an epic must-hike for adventure lovers! Oh, and it’s absolutely breathtaking!

After finishing your hike on Grandfather Trail, be sure to walk across the mile high swinging bridge! 😮🙌🏻

At milepost 355.4: the highest peak in the Eastern US!

Milepost 418.8: this easy hike full of waterfalls is a popular yet great family-friendly stop along the Blue Ridge Parkway!

Art Loeb & Black Balsam Knob Trailhead
Milepost 420.2: Right next to Graveyard Fields! This just may be my favorite hike in all of Western NC! Highly recommend doing as much of the Art Loeb trail (past Black Balsam Knob) as you can!! 🤩💯

Milepost 422.4: This rather short hike offers impressive views on top of the equally impressive mountain that is Devil’s Courthouse! And, it’s also super close to Black Balsam and Graveyard Fields.

This is a great road-side waterfalls along Lake Logan Rd./ Hwy. 215 on route to Flowertown Charm Treehouse! (A great stay). There’s also Little Bird and Wildcat Falls close by!

Milepost 431: This 1.4 mile nature loop trail (rated “moderate”) is a fan favorite!

Milepost 451.2: With the highest elevation on the Parkway, it is a must for those traveling it! The views on the short (but steep) hike are magnificent!

A fantastic way to end your road-trip: ESPECIALLY horseback riding with Cataloochee Ranch to the top!
