I’ve been my entire life coming to Hatteras in the summers for surf trips, it’s about time I create a guide of all of my favorite spots! Hatteras Island is such a fun place for families, surf trips, girls getaways and trips with your partner. I’m so excited to share this slice of heaven with you.
Hatteras Sol Waterside Grill
Really delicious food with a good ambiance. If you’re a music lover - check out the menu item names, they even have a Widespread Panic menu item!
See MoreCape Hatteras Lighthouse Original Location
My favorite place to surf on the island! Can get crowded but the waves are worth it.
See MoreDuck Village Outfitters
A local surf shop to stock up on all of your surf gear/clothes!
See MoreWaves Market & Deli
A huge variety of beer and snacks but also you’ve gotta eat at Waves Deli at least once on your trip. There’s nothing better than going for a sunrise surf and eating a Waves Deli breakfast burrito after - they are MASSIVE. You can call your order in while you’re putting your board back on the car and pick it up when you’re done. Ideal morning!
See MoreCape Hatteras / Outer Banks KOA Resort
I’ve been staying here for the last 10+ years! I’ve stayed in just about everything they offer - camping cabins, rustic cabins, tent sites, in an RV on an RV site and the cottages on stilts. There’s a reason my family and I keep coming back every summer. The amenities make it feel like luxury camping! A perfect place for families with activities all day long such as gem mining, the fun train, bingo, tie dying and SO much more. It’s fun for all ages. Right on the beach and you’ll get access to their pier across the street on the sound!

BookFrisco Sandwich Co
Hands down best sandwiches on the east coast! You gotta try the Hatterican but give yourself some extra time, they are always slammed. A super local, chill vibe with incredible food. Grab a Hatterican for a day at the beach!
See MoreMirro’s Cafe
Used to be Atlantic Coast Cafe, still same menu. You gotta get the gravy cheese fries (formerly known as Disco Fries) and the tacos - I usually do fish but the shrimp is also bomb! Some of my favorite fish tacos in the world, with a soft AND hard shell in one taco!

Small local vibey surf shop with the cutest clothes and some boards!

Cool atmosphere right on the sound. The food is good and you can watch the kite boards while ya eat. Check out some of the live events like live music and kiteboarding competitions!
See MorePangea Tavern
Right in front of Avon Pier, really good seafood dinners. More of a nicer and pricier vibe but great food!
See MoreAvon Fishing Pier
Another killer surf spot!
See MoreRodanthe Pier Place
I love to go night fishing on the pier! There’s a tackle shop where ya pay an entrance fee and can rent fishing poles and gear if ya need it. The new parking fee sucks ($15/day) but pretty sure you get free parking if you’re fishing! You can also surf the north and south side of the pier!
See MoreConner's Supermarket
Your go-to super market to stock up on all your groceries while you’re in town!
See MoreCape Hatteras National Seashore
Spend the day going up to the top of the lighthouse and getting a beautiful view of Hatteras, after a morning surf right at the light house!
