Start Saturday with a delicious latte from one of my favorite local spots downtown. Tucked into a quieter alleyway, this coffee shop serves tasty toast and pastries. It can get busy, as it’s near the university, so make sure to grab a table early.

Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art
Located just steps from the Plaza de Armas, this museum is dedicated to showcasing Central and South American pre-Columbian artworks. In the basement, the exhibitions start with pieces from the Inca, Rapa Nui, and more as you move upward through the halls. The textile exhibition is a must-see! Note that there is an entrance fee to the museum.

Truly the heart of the city, the plaza attracts all kinds of people, performers, artisans, and more each day. Wander around, admiring the architecture and daily life. It’s also an easy hub to take the train from, with a metro stop nearby.

Parque Gabriela Mistral. Ex Juegos De Palos
Ride the teleférico up to the top of this park area, also known as Cerro San Cristóbal, or get active and rent a bike to head up the winding road. The views from the top are sweeping, and you can visit the towering statue of Christ and a small church. You must try 'mote con huesillo,' a sweet peachy-grain drink, from a local vendor while you’re here—it’s a Chilean specialty!

Where to Stay

Hotel Magnolia Santiago de Chile
This was the BEST stay in Santiago! The staff here is absolutely incredible, accommodating, and kind—I cannot speak highly enough of them. Located on a quieter street in Lastarria, it’s a short walk to museums, restaurants, and bars, as well as close access to the metro lines. The breakfast buffet is delicious, and don’t forget to visit their rooftop at sunset for views of the Andes Mountains on a clear day.
