Trip Highlight
Start your day in the charming seaside neighborhood of Pacific Grove. Stroll down Lighthouse Avenue to admire the Victorian architecture and grab some coffee and a pastry at The Bookworks. Continue walking northwest on Lighthouse Avenue towards the residential neighborhoods and you may spot Pacific Grove’s most famous four-legged residents: wild deer.

If you’re in Monterey from November thru February, you have a high chance of witnessing the epic monarch butterfly migration! Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary in particular is a popular spot for the butterflies to rest. Be there around 8-9 AM to see them wake up and fly out of the trees in swarms.
