When people think of Colorado, they think of the iconic ski towns and towering Rocky Mountains, but there is so much more to do and see in Southern & Central Colorado than is given credit for! Visit some of my favorite recreation spors in COS, just an hour south of Denver and home to America's Mtn!
Garden of the Gods
One of my FAVORITE spots by far! Come early in the morning or on a week day to avoid the crowds to explore these unique, towering, orange cliffs. You can even get permits to climb up the rockfaces here if you dare!
See MorePikes Peak - America's Mountain
Hike up America's iconic Purple Mountain Majesty! You can try the famous donuts up at 14,000+ ft.
See MoreParadise Cove / Guffey Gorge
A "local" favorite, this spot has freezing cold water that many like to plunge into from the cliffs and overhangs in the summer.
See MoreEleven Mile Canyon Recreation Area
Another "local" favorite for summertime swimming and tanning, as well as fishing!
See MorePueblo Reservoir
Head down to the beach at Pueblo Reservoir on a hot summers day! You can swim at their beach area or spot wildlife along the shores.
See MoreDon't feel like hiking up the peak, just take a tour up the famed Pikes Peak Highway! You'll get to stop along the way and enjoy the visitors center at the top.
See MoreMt. Muscoco
One of my favorite hikes with sweeping views of downtown COS and Cheyenne Canyon! The trail is about 4 miles long with 1,299 ft of elevation gain.
See MoreManitou Incline
Take to the 2,768 steps of the Manitou Incline! This is definitely a tough climb, but totally worth it at the top. Take the Barr Trail back down for an easier climb downhill.
See MoreThe Broadmoor Seven Falls
This accessible natural area is perfect for those looking for something a little bit more relaxed. You can climb the steps up to the falls or take an elevator across the canyon for views of the cascading falls.
See MorePaint Mines Interpretive Park
Visit the colorful rocks of the Paint Mines for some relaxed day hiking and photo spots. Formed over 9,000 years ago, these rocks were formed through erosive action that creates incised gullies and exposed layers of selenite clay and jasper!
