Venetian Memories

Caption: We opted for a hotel away from the infamous St Marco's Square. The photographer in me was excited about the idea of walking the paths and streets that follow and cross the canals that run through Venice, like veins, bringing life to this island city.

Caption: The decision paid off as we found many quaint cafe's and areas of Venice that many tourist would simply miss. All in exchange for a 20 minute walk to St. Marco's Square

Caption: A ride on a Gondola is of course obligatory. You can't come to Venice and not experience a Gondola ride. The Gondoliers usually have excellent local knowledge and speak many languages.
The Gondolier steering us told us that each Gondola costs up to €35,000!

You'll find yourself walking among the homes of the Venetian residents. You'll smell bread from the bakeries that the locals use. You may even come across local Venetian children playing football in a concealed courtyard. The well known tourist parts of Venice aren't even the most beautiful parts.
