Caption: Uplistsikhe is located just 80 km (49 miles) west of Tbilisi so it makes for the perfect day trip from the capital. You can also combine it with a visit to the Stalin Museum in Gori, which is just 15 km away.

Here you can find hundreds of rooms excavated in the rock, where regular people lived all the way until the 13th century when the Mongols invaded Georgia and the cave town was abandoned.
