Caption: The Halloween tradition of carving
pumpkins originated from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. During this time, it was believed that the veil between the worlds of the living and the dead was thinnest, allowing spirits to roam freely between both realms. In Ireland, turnips were carved to ward off dark spirits.
