Caption: I’m glad that I took lots of photos during these lockdown weeks as I suspect that, looking back, every week would have just melted into the next, without the definition offered by weekend walks or adventures, and that I wouldn’t have recalled the simple highlights. And looking back to these photos from week eight of lockdown, I also suspect that we had dull weather after the sunshine of previous weeks, and that the light wasn’t great aside from on a couple of evening walks, which I’ve shared here.

Caption: These photos are from the start of the week, on the Monday evening, when I needed some air and headed out solo. I’d become very aware that most of the photos I share from the lagoons show the nice bits - areas of woodland, the pond, the swans, lovely light over the water. But this walk isn’t all bonny. The ash lagoons were created in the 1960s as a repository for ash from the now-demolished Cockenzie Power Station. And there are plenty of reminders of this industrial history.

Caption: I like these old rusted signs, which were probably warning people to stay off this ash lagoon while the site was still ‘active’.
