Caption: In August 2015, three ladies decided they wanted to try something never been done on the beautiful island of Guernsey...
Caption: Frustrated with the fact that triathlon was a predominately male pursuit and that the female population of Guernsey thought it involved a lot of training. The three ladies set out to prove everyone wrong...by organising an accessible triathlon.

Caption: They gathered the support of the Guernsey Triathlon Club and gained access to a large group of women through Get Fit Guernsey.
Then set up a Facebook page for the event.
Naming it WOMEN'S TRY-A-TRI GUERNSEY.
Within hours the page was gathering momentum...

Caption: With 150 signed up there was no going back!

Caption: Over the next few weeks the organisers became amateur councillors and coaches, reassuring the ladies and getting them ready.
The event would be theirs to own and enjoy. The aim being to cross the finish line, that's it!
Caption: October 3rd, 6am: the first athletes arrived with their bikes, kit and nervous stomachs...
And by 7.30am 125 racers were ready for the challenge!
Aged between 12-60 years. Swim caps on, shoes at the ready, bikes in gear.

Caption: Not one of the 125 women 'failed' to complete the triathlon.
Everyone left feeling fitter, stronger, and more brilliant than they thought possible!
What a success!

Caption: 5 weeks on, the organisers are already looking ahead to the TRY-A-TRI 2016 series. With 5 events planned including one for guys.
If you make it to Guernsey keep your eyes peeled for ladies training together. They will be the ones giggling, smiling and telling each other 'yes you can!'
