Caption: The first thing we did is bribe our teen with food. The Louvre is better when you’re fueled! There are a few cafes in the Louvre, but I wanted one on a terrace and with delicious desserts. I recommend the millefeuille framboise, a raspberry cake made with a thousand layers of pastry.

Caption: The Louvre has more than 35,000 exhibits—there’s something for everyone. Our son loves Greek mythology, so we made sure to make that area of the museum a priority.

Caption: We visited the less busy exhibits because our teen gets overwhelmed by large crowds after a while. This incredible marquee is in the collection on Iran’s Persian Achaemenid Empire. The pieces were incredible and not very many people were in there. We stayed away from busier areas like the Mona Lisa since he wasn’t too excited to be around a big horde of people and wasn’t interested in seeing it. (I’d already seen it or I’d have gone and seen it without him.)
