Caption: After a few days in Shanghai and Beijing I was lucky to be able to spend a few days up in the mountains by the Great Wall of China. Most of the wall is in serious disrepair but the more popular sections have been reconstructed for tourists. My route took me from the wild and restricted section at Jiankou to the tourist area at Mutianyu, 15km across the mountain.
