Caption: The aviary was opened in 1981 as a small family business in the historic village of Cauley Square. It is now one of the oldest and largest exotic bird shops in all of South Florida.

Caption: Watching over the aviary from his perch at the front of the store is a Hyacinth Macaw named Jake. He was rescued by the store's owner after his previous owner was unable to care for him. While not very vocal, he is extremely friendly and loves to play.

Caption: Pebbles, a cockatoo, is another rescue. She had a bacterial infection as a baby that resulted in her losing many of her feathers. While Jake may be the king of the aviary, she is the life of the party.

Caption: The aviary also has a nursery. Baby birds that come to the aviary are kept here where they are handled and cared for until they are old enough to be adopted.

Caption: Watching over the nursery is Cricket. He is a macaw that belongs to one of the employees. He loves to talk and is quite the ladies man.
Caption: After the birds have been weaned, they are taken to a separate room where they are available for adoption.

Caption: Not only is the aviary a rescue and adoption center, it is a full service business. The aviary offers grooming services for all birds. They have a full range of toys and food. Many of these are customized for each species and only available here.

Caption: Lastly there is the newest edition to the nursery. Someone left a litter of kittens with their umbilical cords still attached at the aviary's doorstep. Of the five, two survived. One found a home. This female is currently under the care of the staff until she can find her forever home.
