Video of Aachener Dom
Caption: The Aachen Cathedral is located in the middle of the old city center. It is one of the most popular sights in Aachen. The building was commissioned by Charlemagne in the 8th century. The central octagonal part, which now serves as the nave of the church, was built in the Byzantine architectural style. During the Second World War, the Dom remained largely undamaged as one of the few German historic buildings. In 1978, the church was the first German monument to be placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. A historical and cultural sight that can’t be missed in Aachen.
