Caption: Tawau is the third biggest city of Sabah, after Kota Kinabalu in the west and Sandakan in the east. The city is located along the Celebes Sea. It is also known for its great seafood especially the huge tiger prawns. Tawau borders with Kalimantan, Indonesia. But whoever comes to Tawau will be amazed at so many hotels available there. One will be wondering why there are so many hotels in town which has nothing much to offer?

Caption: Tawau itself is not that popular among tourists although many arrive daily to the town. To answer that most tourists who come to Tawau are going to the fabulous diving spots around the islands of Sipadan, Kapalai, Mataking and Mabul in Semporna. But since there is not many hotels in Semporna, the tourists stay in Tawau which has a range of budget hotels, decent guesthouses and new 4-star hotels. By sunrise the tourists will drive one hour or two to Semporna to catch boats to these islands!
