Caption: Ever since I’ve discovered the pleasure of trekking when traveling to a new country, I look for interesting itineraries in the nature when planning a new trip.
This is how I discovered Svaneti, in Georgia.
Here I did a three-day trek among glaciers, wild flowers and the typical Svan towers.

Caption: Sometimes we walked on paved roads and crossed villages, but the path was mainly in the wild.

Caption: There weren’t many other trekkers, so it wasn’t difficult to find a guesthouse at the villages.

Caption: Every day we walked for about 5-6 hours.
The first part was uphill, and on the second day the hike up was particularly steep and challenging.
Once on the top, we walked down to the valleys where the villages were.

Caption: On the third day we had to rent horses to cross a stream. We tried to wade it, but the current was too strong and the water too cold to do it.

Caption: The last 7 km were on paved road, so we decided to take a minivan (truth is I was a bit -a lot- tired)

Caption: We arrived in Ushguli, the highest town in Europe inhabited all year round.
