Caption: STORM FRANCIS Newhaven Beach
Caption: I made my way from London to the South Coast by train.
During the journey, I could already feel the strong gusts of wind slamming into the side of the carriage.
The Met Office were predicting winds of 65mph+ across the South East coast of England.

Caption: I walked from the train station to Newhaven Beach. Around a 20 minute walk.
Unaware how sheltered the path was, everything felt relatively calm in Newhaven.
I was beginning to think to myself:
‘Is this storm over hyped?
Did I read the Daily Express by accident?’

Caption: Despite being soaking wet, heavy rain soon began to fall. I walked to the nearest local pub and was greeted by the bar manager.
‘my my, the storm really spat you out’
I sat next to the fire, warmed myself up and ordered some chips and a pint of Guinness.
Never tasted so good.
