Caption: And we continue our trip in Portugal with the amazing and beautiful city of Sintra.
I wouldn't consider Sintra a city. It is more of an ensemble of pousadas (super duper fancy hotels), quintas (smaller pretty hotels) and beautiful castles.

Caption: Our hotel was a beautiful Quinta. It was very charming, even though it did not have any azulejos... There was a pool, but it was really cold and it started raining. There was a lady who played the piano at 9:00 every morning. Lovely.

Caption: There are lots of cats in Sintra. This one is one of the many cats who live in our hotel. He woke me up making very strange noises.

Caption: Monserrate. The most Lord of the Rings castle I have ever seen. Really, really impressive. The gardens were just as beautiful as the inside of the castle.

Caption: I was expecting much more from the city itself. There is about one or two streets total and it's really really touristy. I think it's one of the most touristy trip we have ever done (excepted Santorini). There are German and French people every where. Plus, my sister got her phone stolen. Good times.

Caption: This was my favorite castle out of all the ones we have seen. It was also pretty LordoftheRings-gy. The inside of the castle was very pretty but the gardens are even better. It's a giant park/forest with bridges, tunnels, lakes, caves, rivers. It's like Disney land but so, so much prettier and cooler. We got lost a couple of times, taking little paths in the forest, but we never got to a dead end. There was always somewhere to go to, always little roads or rivers to follow.

Portugal
Caption: And then, there are some absolutely beautiful beaches. It's always very cold on the beach, because it's the ocean. It's funny to think that years ago, it was considered the end of the world.
