Caption: Kursaal Congress Centre and Auditorium is a complex comprising several spaces: a great auditorium, many-use/exhibition halls and and is located in Donostia-San Sebastián (Basque Country, Spain). It opened in 1999 and consists of several spaces, including the 1,800-seat concert hall, the Palacio de Congresos-Auditorio Kursaal, and is the home of the biggest film festival in Spain, the San Sebastian International Film Festival, in existence since 1953.

Caption: The Kursaal is mainly constituted as two large prismatic volumes, that emerge from a platform. Each "cube" (as they are known), is formed by an inner prismatic structure, surrounded by double translucent glass panels, which are supported by a metallic structure. Between the cubes there is a big walkable surface, with sights to the Zurriola Beach and the mouth of the Urumea river. Various concerts of the Donostia Jazz Festival ("Jazzaldia"), and many other events.

The Buen Pastor Cathedral is one of the icons of the city. The Cathedral takes up a total area of 1915 square metres, and one of its towers rises to 75 metres high. The church has a maximum capacity of 4000 people.

Caption: The organ is one of the most treasured elements in the cathedral. Its making took place in the year 1954 and, according to what is said, it was one of the largest ever made in Europe and, most certainly, the largest in Spain. The organ has 5 manual keyboards and one pedal board. It also has 9535 pipes, one of which is 10 metres high. These features turn the organ of Buen Pastor Cathedral into something unique and worth mentioning.

Caption: The Constitution Square (Plaza de la Constitución) is the nerve centre of the Old Town. This is the main square in the city, where big parties and celebrations take place. I could mention, for instance, the flag hoisting festivity on the 20th of January, or the celebration of Saint Thomas’ day, when stalls selling chistorra (a sort of cooked sausage) are placed in several points of the city, this being the most popular one.

Caption: As soon as you step into the square, the numbers above each one of the windows in the houses facing it will capture your attention. These numbers still mark the bullring boxes that the houses formerly used to be and from which you could watch the bullfight. After the construction of a new and larger bullfighting arena in the city, the Constitution Square was not used as a bullring anymore; however, the numbers remain on each window so as not to forget part of its history.
