Caption: Argyll. A wild, westerly region of Scotland, stuffed full of castles, secret lochs and countryside towns.
That day, we packed a rucksack and took the A83 towards Inveraray, Scotland's first model new town.
This next view was our first stop.

We had lunch at Brambles (can't beat a fish chowder) before heading towards the town's castle.
P.S. You'll also notice that every respectable small town in Scotland has a festive store.

Caption: This town is best viewed from above. Take the path from the castle through mossy woodland, past abandoned lime kilns and onto the wind-brushed hill.
Hard work is rewarded! There's a watchtower waiting for you, and memorable views down Loch Fyne. Even on a cloudy day, it's something else.
