Caption: Porter-Bass Vineyard was bought in 1980 by Dirck and Sue Bass. Nobody wanted it--They bought it for the same price they would have paid for a suburban home in New Jersey. The property had been originally cleared and planted to vines in the 1860's by Italian immigrants, but over 100 years later, the property was overgrown with poison oak and blackberries. Thus begins the story of Porter-Bass Vineyard.

Caption: Nearly 25 years ago, Ted Lemon was looking for cool climate vineyards, and asked the Bass Family to plant Pinot noir. The rest is history. Since 1993 Littorai has bottled Porter-Bass under "Mays Canyon".
Today, the Porter-Bass vineyard is hallowed ground for Cool climate Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Old Vine Zinfandel.
