Caption: It's one of my favourite places in the world. I often call it "The Time Travel Machine" because if you turn at the right corner, walk up the right street, and you forget the cars and city noises behind you, you'll be transported one hundred years back...
I usually stay in one of those run-down hotels that you can't find elsewhere. Old furniture, grumpy owners and guests who look like they've stayed there since the 1970s.

Caption: If it's early enough, I start my day with Dim Sum. They are the best I’ve ever had and there is nothing like the busy, loud mess of a traditional Chinese restaurant to help you wake up.

Caption: Penang’s architecture is unique and beautiful, but what’s most fascinating are the doors. I often spend hours walking along the town houses, my camera in hand, trying to capture as many details as I can, collecting memories before time takes it all away. And I try to imagine who used to live behind these doors. I make up stories in my head. You can fit the whole world behind a closed door.

Caption: I wander, I walk in these streets like on the deck of a sinking ship, and as I venture in the lost part of town, where the city vanishes behind jungle curtains – knots of lianas crushing windows, breaking the walls of the empty houses- I often ask myself : What will be left of Penang? And the answer is simple : not much… photos, stories, and ghosts whispering behind closed doors.
