Caption: Memories of a weekend in Orvieto, a small town located in the southwest of Umbria, Italy.
This town lies on top of a large hill made of volcanic tuff. Probably because of its Etruscan roots, Orvieto resemble more Tuscany and less Umbria, infact brown is the dominant tone and the surrounding area is full of cypress trees and old villas.
Othen than its magnificent cathedral, Orvieto has a lot to offer in terms of culture, sights and amazing food. It's definitely worthy of a multi-day visit for those who are much in need of escaping from the stress of a big city.

The structure features two spiral ramps in a double helix, accessed by two doors, which allowed mules to carry empty and full water vessels separately in downward and upward directions without obstruction.
