I'll always respond with beach. The
ocean has a magical pull on me that settles any restless feelings. I've spent a few years exploring all seasons
along the Oregon coast from camping to sleeping in a king sized bed. These are some of my favorite spots.

A day use park with quiet beaches
and primitive camping. We hiked in just over a mile to find our spot.
Bring your own firewood, food
and water as there are no amenities other than solitude.

Fort Stevens offers tent, yurt and
RV camping. Yurts are perfect for winter months because you can
have nice days but often the rain
rolls in. I'll take the the warmth and cover of a yurt instead of being in
a tent in January any day. Invite a bunch of friends and have a pot
luck dinner over camp fire. Go
through Astoria on your
way home.

Rockaway Beach, Oregon

Rockaway is a quiet beach town
with home rentals. This place is about finding a great home (preferably with a hot tub and views of the ocean) and making dinner in. Don't go here for
the restaurants or the nightlife. I love getting a big group together for a beach BBQs or seafood boils.

the local fisheries along the bay.
Ask around for the best places and who has the freshest fish. I always
go with fresh over frozen and
whatever is in season.

are my favorite way to feed a crowd. Put everything in a pot to boil and serve it on newspaper. Use the newspaper on the table to start
a bonfire on the beach!

This campground offers tent and RV camping as well as fire pits and picnic tables. It can get crowded in the summer so off season is my favorite time here. It's perfect for family's or people wanting a camping experience with modern amenities like bathrooms, showers and wood for camp fires.
