Caption: This isn't some remote and strange occurrence. A substantial population chooses to be nomadic. In the summer the Ger is set up in an hour near a river. In an hour it is packed dissembled and packed up. The house and all herds and possessions are carried and then in an hour again, set up again at the base of mountains. The door is always pointing to the south, the north is for the eldest man, the west is for children, the east is for guests, the northwest is for their gods, the southeast is for cooking and the southwest is for all of the things related to horses. All the things related to horses are sacred, so are the pillars holding up the Ger, so is the horsehair rope channeling good spirits into the Ger.

Caption: People came and went. A man to talk about stolen horses, another group to talk about gathering feed for the winter. This is going to be an extremely bitter winter.
As each person came, a silver bowl was filled with mares milk and offered. It was received with the right hand and the left hand under the elbow.

Caption: In the horse corner is a bladder made from the skin of a cow. It is filled with horse milk. Every night it is churned by a long stick with a plunger at the bottom. At least 500 times it is churned. Tomorrow morning it will be fermented to about the same alcoholic content as beer.
Everything from the horse is sacred.
