Picture
Caption: Collier County off-roaders have run into their latest dead-end.
Negotiations to bring Collier residents access to a new ATV trail near Punta Gorda have stalled, and that could bring the county's long-mired efforts to find off-roading space back to square one, said Steve Carnell, county public services director. Collier leaders believe the Punta Gorda park officials are asking for too much.

Naples officials were tipped off by an anonymous caller and jumped on it.
“You can’t have a cocktail bar on Fifth,” Code Enforcement Manager Roger Jacobsen said Thursday. “You can have it as a conditional use, but you have to go before City Council. Regardless of what the state says, we have our own ordinances.
“The key thing is go-go girls,” Jacobsen said.

Caption: Collier County commissioners decided Tuesday not to limit outdoor markets set up on government property, a decision that Golden Gate vendors said allows them to continue operating.
They rejected recommendation to require the markets to have at least 51 percent of the vendors selling farm goods, like fruits, vegetables, plants and flowers. The recommendation allowed only 10 percent of vendors to sell new retail goods.

“I don’t believe you can have a one-size-fits-all formula,” Commissioner Georgia Hiller said.
