Caption: My new life started on July 1, 2007 at Pismo Beach dunes. We had been driving through the dunes in a Chevy Blazer that had a fiber glass removable back with no role bars. We had no idea what we were doing, but I was 19 and new what I was doing! 🙄 We ended up doing a nose dive down a 55 ft razor back dune. I locked my arms out on the roof of the truck and braced hard for the impact. The nose of the truck hit first and then toppled over upside down. When we hit the ground the impact made my c-4 vertebrae explode, and because my arms were locked out on the roof of the car my left arm elbow was dislocated, broken in three places, and crushed together. My accident left my paralyzed from my chest down including my hands and triceps. I was on life support due to catching pneumonia from my 6 hour spinal cord surgery. I spent 30 days laying in ICU with respiratory problems and unable to eat, drink, or even talk. I have come so far and have exceeded farther then doctors ever thought I'd be. I'm breathing on my own, I push my own chair, and I have a positive outlook on life!
