Video of Haller-Ruine
Caption: Monschau is a historic town whose history goes back a long way. The Haller Ruine, which dominates on the Rahmenberg, takes us back to the Middle Ages and the beginning of Monschau's history. It takes only a short hike to reach it and it is well worth it.
There are still speculations about what the Haller was used for. It is generally characterized as an observation post of the castle, because it was considerably better viewed from the Roer valley. Others see it as an outer bailey to protect the Reichenstein monastery. One thing’s for sure: its view over Monschau’s old town can’t be missed!
