Caption: Mocca A story based from my admiration, and from my camera
Picture
Caption: As i said in my previous story, Mocca is one of my favorite band of all time. Prambanan Jazz 2016 gave me chances to get closer with them, as well as to met the guys that worked behind the scene. I think it will be good to tell you a story about my experience with them, but allow me to give you a brief explanation about the band itself.
Picture
Caption: Mocca is a band formed in 1999, and stay strong in present time with their 4 primary members. Arina Ephipania on vocal, Riko Prayitno on guitar, Toma Pratama on bass, and Indra Masaad on drums. They already have 4 albums throughout their journey in indie scenario, "My Diary" on 2002, "Friends" in 2004, "Colours" in 2007, and "Home" in 2014. They also have a soundtrack album for a movie titled "Untuk Rena" in 2006. Most of their songs are written in English, except songs for the movie "Untuk Rena" that written in Bahasa.
Picture
Caption: They decided to enter hiatus state in 2011, due to Arina's marriage with an American person named Chris Miller, and moved to USA. Before she left Indonesia, they were agree to have a "last show", titled "Annabelle and The Music Box". Their journey towards the last show were filmed in a documentary movie, titled "Mocca: Life Keeps on Turning". For around 2 years, Mocca was in a hiatus state, until Arina decided to went back home around the year 2013. After that, they arranged shows across the nation, and preparing their next album, titled "Home"

Caption: For me, i love all bands that catches my ears when i was in junior high school. About Indonesian indie scene, i should call names such as Goodnight Electric, The Upstairs, The Adams, and many more. Mocca is one of them, and it was always an excitement to saw their video clips on local TV, back when MTV and VH1 were mostly playing musics, and were available in local channels. The year 2013 was the very first time i saw their live performance, after their hiatus state.

Caption: This was not the time i started as a stage photographer, so excuse me for some bad quality photos. All photos were taken by my Sony Tablet S.
This also the very first time i met Mocca in person, so you guys can imagine how excited i am in that moment. Thanks to Swinging Friends (Mocca fans) that with me at that time.
P.S. : If you guys have that kind of chance, DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT call Arina "tante". I've done that and she wasn't happy about it......

Picture
Caption: I made a story about my experience at Prambanan Jazz 2016 before, so in this case, i will specifically talked about Mocca in this event. This is the first time i met the guys that worked behind the scene for Mocca. They are crews responsible for gears, equipments, sounds, etc. This event also taught me about the timing to photograph, especially when i photographing bands. When to shoot guitarist, bassist, drummer, and vocalist. I usually split my attention during the show, like in first few songs i have to shoot all members, and few songs specifically for a member, and so on.

Caption: Unfortunately, Mocca's performance at Prambanan Jazz 2016 was cut down to about 30 minutes, due to Maghrib time. Quite a shocker, infact. But, Arina still gave the audience her tap dance as the finale

Picture
Caption: Because Semarang is my hometown, it was a good decision to went home, watched Mocca, and had some rest. Since the headmaster was my former teacher in SMA 3 Semarang, it's a good thing to ask him. And so, i went to the school at 10 A.M., to photographed their preparation. During that time, i also had a conversation with Mr. Vira, their road manager. He told me some behind-the-scene stories, especially during their hiatus state, and what wold have happened if Mocca disbanded during that time.
Picture
Caption: After the show, i sent some of the photos to Mr. Vira, so that all crews can have their photographs. Mostly they upload it to social medias, and they credited me in the status as well. As for Bayu, i just sent his photos via LINE

Picture
Caption: I came to the school at 7.30 P.M. after i backed up some photos to my hard drive. The crews came shortly after my arrival, and they observed the situation. I managed to know how the band works in every show. Usually, the crews came around 90 minutes before the show to prepping up the gears and equipments. Then, the players (primary and additionals) came 30 minutes before the show. At that time, it's best not to disturb them. Let them prepared themselves for the show. During the show, all crews were standby in the stage, to anticipate any unexpected stuffs.

I still had my media ID that i got from photographing Danilla and Mondo Gascaro the previous day. So, i came at 9 A.M. to the venue, and once again, photographing the preparation.
Meanwhile, let me also introduce you to the crews.....

So, yeah. That's all my experience so far with one of my favorite band. Lots of trial and errors, but in the end, i learned many lessons from them. Hopefully i can have another shot with them again, in the future.....
Picture
Caption: Actually, there are more people work behind the scene from Mocca. But at this time, i don't have any interaction with them. Also, It's hard to put all my detailed experience for only 75 pages, including photos. So, i apologized for any misjudgment, statement, or any grammatical error in this story
Also, Happy (belated) Birthday, Mocca! 17 years and still strong. Stay healthy, creative, and happy you guys!
