Caption: The beaches in Mexico are owned and maintained by the Mexican government. They are beautiful, as is the Riviera Maya in general.
In January of 2017, my husband and I were given a trip Secrets, Akumal, all expenses paid so that we could attend an awards ceremony hosted by the company he works for, KBP Foods. His store ranked 8th in the company for 2016.
We hope to return in 2018. This parts of the country is lovely, safe, and full of friendly people who place an exceptionally high value on everything the tourism industry makes possible for them and their families.
Word to the wise: always carry some cash. Locals offer goods, services, and amazing experiences . . . for cash. You'll find few card readers among the local tradesmen.

Caption: Tulum We visited Tulum while we were there. Though beautiful, it was too crowded for my taste, and everything is inaccessible. If you want a chance to wander through a ruined city or ascend an ancient temple, Tulum is not the place for you. The beaches there were great though.
