Caption: Today was our last day in Gozo, so we got up earlier than usual and headed out to Comino island. This is a tiny island 10 minutes off the coast of Gozo. We made it to the local ferry just in time and by 9:15am we were on the island and ready to explore. What we didn't expect were the severe high winds...we were lucky we didn't blow off the cliff!

Caption: People come to this island that only has four people officially living there, primarily because of the Blue Lagoon. The water in the lagoon is a fantastic colour and there is a small cove for swimming and snorkelling. Today however, most people were just hiking around the island due to the wind and overcast sky. The lagoon is tiny but beautiful.

Caption: From here we ventured out taking photos, admiring the views, checking out the flowers and trying not to fall off the trail or cliff due to the high wind. We made it to the tower...too bad it was closed...but there were still beautiful views. Then we continued on around the other side of the island in search of the one hotel that is there...unfortunately it was never to be found.

Caption: After about an hour an a half we decided to turn around and head back to catch our ferry...all against the wind. We thought we missed the ferry but it was late so we arrived just in time for our crazy boat ride back to Gozo in huge waves...these are the occasions when you just sit tight and ride it out. Once back, we packed up our things, had a bite to eat and then said goodbye to Peter and Josef before heading to the ferry.

Caption: After the 30 minute ferry to Malta we caught our bus to Sliema. We arrived a little over an hour later and found our way to our little maisonette with our host Kristina waiting for us. We are in the centre of the city on a side street. Great location!
After we settled in...we were both tired from our windy two hour hike...we headed out to see the neighbourhood.

Caption: Sliema is known for its restaurant and bar scene, plus shopping...this was very apparent as we walked around. It also has a nice promenade along the waterfront. After looking around for a bit we found a place with a nice vibe to have dinner...The Black Sheep Bar...huge meals, good atmosphere and delicious drinks.
