Caption: Mythology says that Psyche, daughter of the king of Asia, was the most beautiful among her three sisters, even more than Aphrodite. As Psyche was due-to-be-married, the goddess of beauty sent her son, Eros, as a monster to end up with the princess.
But when beautiful Psyche was waiting for the monster, a soft breeze carried her to a palace...
Caption: And there she found her not so terrible husband.
Problem was she only could feel him, not see his real face, so one night, convinced by her sisters, Psyche took a lamp and while Eros was asleep, she tried to see through the light the true face of her husband. A drop of oil slipped from the lamp landing in Eros' face, causing him a burn.
Eros ran away and punished her with his absence.
Caption: Eros had to tell his mother the origin of the burn, and Aphrodite punished Psyche with three trials. In the last one, Psyche had to take from Hell a little vase, but opening it was forbidden. Curiosity won, and as Psyche opened it, a cloud came out from it and covered her in a mortal dream.
But Eros always watched over his beloved anonymously...
