Caption: AD ~ gifted stay We were invited by Together Travel Co. to stay in one of their contemporary dog-friendly lodges in John O’Groats - way, way up at the very northern tip of Scotland - to check out their new Together Tails concept. Lots of places welcome dogs, but Together Tails offers a more personalised approach where canine visitors receive welcome packs when they arrive at their destination, along with area guides of good places for walks and sniffs, and also the nearest dog-friendly pubs and restaurants to take their humans to.
We loved this idea, and we’ve never been to John O’Groats, so we made the (very) long drive north for a few days in Lodge 22.

Caption: Things we liked about Lodge 22
~ The Lads 1/ the joy that is zoned underfloor heating. Pure bliss.
2/ having a completely open plan living space where we can keep an eye on our humans at all times.
3/ having a gigantic sofa where we can all rest our paws (we brought our own blankets) and snuggle contentedly.
4/ being so close to the sea that you can smell it.
5/ having a big private deck from which to survey The World.

~ The Humans 1/ again, underfloor heating. Bliss, bliss, bliss.
2/ these views, and watching the weather roll in past the Isle of Stroma.
3/ having this much natural light flooding in was *incredible*.
4/ the peace and quiet. Aside from people walking along the coastal path, you can be as distanced as you want to be.
5/ the woodburning stove for nights when you want to feel extra snug; having a nice telly with Apple TV; having a rainfall shower in the en-suite; and the nice wee design touches, from the enamel wall lights to the tweedy herringbone fabric on the bedroom wall.
