Caption: THE SCENE The historic home showed off its charm from the moment I walked in through the Dutch doors.
The former family home has several sitting areas (one for TV watching, one for dining and one with a grand piano) before going through another Dutch door to the inner courtyard.

Caption: THE ROOM My room was huge. A large VERY soft bed was centered with historic touches all around. Wood framed windows let the light pour through onto a well placed writing desk. The historic sink still sat in the room with charming Dutch blue tiles. The full size bathroom had a tub and a shower.

Some of my first impressions of Africa were from the movie Out of Africa. Though it was set and filmed in Kenya on a coffee plantation, this Dutch homestead reminded me of that movie & Karen’s nights on the porch listening to music and reading and the green rolling hills of Africa.
Swap the coffee plantation for vines and this is what Lekkerwijn was for me.
A gorgeous estate ideally located in the Cape Winelands.
I had a hard time leaving to explore as the homestead felt like home.
