Caption: This was a very bittersweet but exciting time in my life- the next day I was taking off to Europe on a nine-month solo adventure. I was nervous, anxious, but most of all excited. Excited for the coming months that were to be filled with traveling, seeing places I could finally check off my bucket list, meeting new people and trying new foods, experiencing different cultures to what I know back home . . . Dreams were soon coming true and I remember that incredible feeling. But I knew deep down that I’d miss home, this place, and days like the one you’re about to click through.

Caption: One of my all-time favorite places in the world will always be Great Sand Bay in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan- just a 15 minute drive from my house. This place holds a special place in my heart.
On this day this past June, my sister and I threw the paddle boards on top of my car and set out for my last beach day before I was leaving. We had full sunshine, the lake was as calm as ever (although numbingly cold- don’t let the photos trick you), and we knew it was going to be a good day.

This day was the perfect send-off. I can’t wait for another Michigan summer- truly lucky to call this place my home.
