Caption: About 2 months ago I visited Kensington Street Social in Chippendale and I found their cuisine to be so beautiful, simple and creative that I believe it deserves a separate (though belated) Steller Story.

Caption: As you probably guessed, it's located on Kensington street in Chippendale; which means, if you can't get a table here, you can always treat yourself to a dumpling or two at the Spice Alley nearby.
Caption: A snack to nibble on while you're waiting for your mains: squid ink crackers with trout roe and cucumber.
Picture
Caption: One of my personal favourites: Tataki Hiramasa kingfish, dill, kohlrabi togarashi. The last one is a type of spice that includes chilli pepper (in case you were wondering).
Picture
Caption: Another dish that totally melts in your mouth: grass fed veal tartar, egg yolk jam, radish salad served with sourdough. Next time I won't forget to ask how one makes jam from egg yolk.
Picture
Caption: A really small dish that's surprisingly nutritious: fresh goats curd, crudo baby vegetables, lemon myrtle dressing. I bet it's all those baby vegetables.

Caption: As this was a meal between meals that Australians commonly call brunch, I was going to stop at raw fish, but then ladies next to us ordered this. Brined and roasted Berkshire pork chop, sugarloaf cabbage, sweet and sour turnips. The smell was irresistible and, as it turns out, so was the taste.

Caption: Now I'm going to show you the knife that accompanied the meat. I rarely pay attention to cutlery, but the 9.47 makes you feel like you're holding a true piece of art in your hand. Simply perfect balance and cutting power. If you don't believe me, google it. This knife is special. And the fact that these guys went to the effort of ordering a whole bunch of them just to facilitate your cutting efforts says a lot about their attention to detail.

Caption: Finally, dessert. East Rydge Grove arbequina olive oil cake, coconut sorbet, spiced mango, passionfruit. I've never tried an olive oil cake before, so curiosity beat my attraction to chocolate. Personally not my cup of tea, but definitely a taste I will remember. Very moist and gentle texture with a strong spice punch.

Caption: To sum it up, I'm definitely coming back for more raw fish, cheeses and breakfast. What kind of Sydneysider would I be if I don't try the eggs here? :)
