Caption: One of my favourite places that I explored in Georgia was the northern district of Kazbegi.
Sitting next to the border with Russia, and deep within the Caucasus mountains, this area has some stunning landscapes to discover.
As you drive north from the capital, Tbilisi, the mountains start to rise up and greet you.

Running west along the Tegri / Terek River, through a beautiful canyon, this area is dotted with abandoned settlements, mineral water springs, and monasteries.

Sometimes called Mount Kazbegi, this peak is the third-highest in Georgia, and seventh-highest in the Caucasus range.
This dormant stratovolcano rises up 5054 m (16,581 ft) and it's Georgian names translates to "Glacier Peak".

If you get inspired and visit this country yourself, then I hope you enjoy Kazbegi as much as I did!
