Caption: It was January 2015, a few days after New Year, when we decided to explore the small town of Jigokudani to search for the Japanese Snow Monkeys. We took the bullet train from Tokyo to Nagano , then another local train to Yudanaka and a bus to Jigokudani. After 4 long hours of travelling, we finally reached the beginning of the trail. Then we walked.....
We followed a group of tourists into a magical forest covered in snow. I am not sure how the lady in high heels managed...
Snow monkeys are fascinating creatures. One stole our bag of Mochi and ate it proudly in front of us. The monkey didn't even look contrite. Oh, well....
