Picture
Caption: This megalithic site is closely related to the worship of ancestral spirits. The construction of this megalithic building is based on the belief that there is a relationship between the living and the dead.
There is a possibility that the Punden Berundak at this location originated from the last phase of the Old Sundanese kingdom, which at that time even though it was already familiar with Hindu-Buddhist religion, preferred Sang Hyang who came from Old Sundanese beliefs.
Megalithic buildings generally face the mountain or the highest place, this is related to the belief that ancestral spirits reside in high places.
