Caption: How to get to Iona from Edinburgh To get from Edinburgh to the Isle of Iona on the west coast of Scotland you will need to take two trains. The first train is from Edinburgh to Glasgow and takes about 40min After leaving Edinburgh over seven hours before you are now ready to board your final ferry for the day! This is the short crossing from Mull over to the Isle of Iona. This crossing is only about 10min in length. Although this journey is long you will pass through some of the most beautiful scenery that Scotland has to offer arriving on a little gem of an island for your stay. Once you arrive on Mull there will be buses waiting to take you across the island from Craignure to Fionnphort. This journey is just over an hour long and the roads can be small and windy. When in Oban you will have around 40min to make your way from the train station to the ferry terminal which is just a short walk away. This crossing takes about 45min and if you are lucky you may get the chance to spot marine life ranging from basking sharks to orkas. The second train will take you from Glasgow to the seaside town of Oban. This is along the West Highland Line which is often voted one of the top rail journeys in Europe. be aware that the train will split with some sections carrying on up to Fort William so make sure you are sat in the correct section of train!

You will then need to take a ferry from Oban to the Isle of Mull before crossing the island by coach, you then finish your journey with one last short ferry trip from Mull over to Iona, don't forget to bring snacks!
