Picture
Caption: Welcome to Vanessa's house! She and I do the markets together, and she's recently completed almost all renovations on her gorgeous downtown Kalispell meth-lab-turned-mansion. It's an absolute beauty...I'll let her tell you the story.

Caption: A little over 2 years ago my husband and I took a complete leap of faith and put an offer on this house. We knew the chances of the sale going through were next to none since we were purchasing it with a VA loan and this house had to be passed by a VA inspector. There was missing trim, light fixtures hanging by wires, missing vent covers, and it was just plain gross! Long story short, we got the house! Even our realtor said, "God must really want you to have this house!" And I believe He did!

Caption: I ordered the gorgeous pendants hanging over the dining room table off eBay. I really wanted matching chairs for around the table but didn't have enough...until I remembered I had a bunch of these vintage folding chairs! They're wood and metal and I LOVE how simple they look around the table!

Caption: We did almost all of the work ourselves with the exception of hiring a professional to stain our floors. I don't know the exact numbers, but I'm pretty confident that we have renovated the house under $20K. That includes all new wiring, plumbing, fixtures, flooring...everything!

Caption: The sunroom was one of the last for us to redo. We used it to store junk. It only took us 2 days to redo it, and I can't believe how gorgeous it turned out!

Caption: A more recent renovated room is my laundry/mud room. This used to be the mud room, a bathroom, and a stairway to the basement. We covered the stairs to the basement and put them back where we think they originally were: under the staircase going to the upstairs.

Caption: And last, but not least, is the girls' room. We'll be painting the floors in here next. I can't wait!! I LOVE my painted floors! Once my little one is out of her crib. we'll have to squeeze two beds in here. That will take some imagination. But I can't wait!
