Caption: #britishcolumbia Assiniboine Lodge and camping huts are situated on the British Columbia-Alberta border in Mount Assiniboine provincial park. The mountain is known as the “Matterhorn of the Rockies” and dominates the skyline in the area. The lodge itself is a very historic place, as the first ever backcountry ski lodge in Canada, built in 1928. Yet, the summer months are just as amazing, with an incredible network of trails into the high alpine.

Caption: It usually gets booked out for the season but with Covid last summer, we were lucky enough to nab a cancellation trip for four days. With six friends, we ran into the lodge from the parking lot about 26 km away with an added 3 to 4 km of ridge scrambling and running along the way.
